Alure Home Improvements President and CEO Sal Ferro Speaks at the ExecuLeaders Breakfast

Sal Ferro and Rich Kruse

On the morning of July 29, 2010, the ExecuLeaders held a special event at Carlyle On The Green in Old Bethpage. Rich Kruse, the President and Founder of the non-profit business association, hosted the networking event and breakfast. Kruse, a well-spoken, outgoing and welcoming host, introduced Alure Home Improvements President and CEO Sal Ferro to the group.

A wave of applause was felt throughout the room as Ferro took the microphone and spoke about his experience as an 8 time builder for ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.

“It’s all about support within the community,” Ferro continued, “we don’t build a house by ourselves. ”

Ferro specifically mentioned how important Long Island is to him and Alure Home Improvements.  Two projects that are very near and dear to him are the Vitale family of St. James, and the more recent, Lutz family of East Setauket home makeovers. Ferro mentioned how important it has been for him to help Long Islanders, however, he does not like to brag or boast about his charitable work.

“This is our home. This is our backyard. We help people here on Long Island that you don’t see on Extreme Makeover.” Ferro said.

Alure’s President also highlighted the efforts of those he and his team helped – who now “Pay It Forward.” He mentioned specifically – the Arena family of Purdys, New York. Ferro told the group with a big smile, that Jim Arena has assisted Alure Home Improvements with every Extreme Makeover: Home Edition build since.

After Ferro spoke candidly, Kruse then pulled up a chair next to him and began asking Sal questions like you’d see on “Inside the Actor’s Studio” which made the event humorous and fun. The audience not only learned about why Sal Ferro does the work he does but they now know what his dream car is, what his favorite thing is to do on Long Island and what his favorite vacations spot is. Curious? Okay, we’ll fill you in. Sal said he would love to own a black Lamborghini, his favorite thing to do on Long Island is coach his son’s baseball team and his favorite vacation spot is Aruba.

As the event came to a close, Rich Kruse invited a few members up to the front to hand out a raffle of prizes. Some of the items were Long Island Ducks tickets, a soap basket and much more. Kioli was thrilled to be at this ExecuLeaders event. It was a great experience to meet business owners and entrepreneurs from all over Long Island.
