in What's IT To You

What’s IT to you?

IT can be your favorite milkshake, burger, diner, winery, beach, theater or restaurant. IT is something you enjoy by yourself, with friends or family. IT will be something you want to stay here on Long Island to share with out-of-town visitors. IT is something so unique to you. We want to know… What’s IT to you?

We live here and know the best places to hangout at. We know some great spots to grab a quick inexpensive lunch or a fancy dinner. We frequent the beaches on the north and south shores. We see amazing sunrises and sunsets from Montauk Point to Port Washington. We can show you where the New York Islanders play. We can take you through some breathtaking gardens and museums. And what’s a better way to experience the four seasons than right here on Long Island! We want to know… What’s IT to you?

Orient Point Lighthouse

Orient Point

Orient Point is the end of the North Fork of Long Island. IT is located in Orient which is the eastern-most hamlet in the town of Southold. The Cross Sound Ferry currently operates a vehicle/passenger ferry service between Orient Point and New London, Connecticut which has expanded over the years with Sea Jet service. IT was originally named Poquatuck, after the name of a local native American tribe that lived along the inland waterways, then Oyster Ponds. Orient Long Beach Bar Light is a lighthouse off Orient. IT was originally a lighthouse that was later converted to concrete watertight structure foundation. IT had the nickname “Bug Light.” A fire destroyed the Long Beach Bar Light in 1963. A replica was later rebuilt. The building was reassembled in 1990, and used again as a navigational aid in 1993. Orient Point and the Long Beach Bar Light have a lot of meaning for Long Islanders. We want to know… What’s IT to you?
